Team Camp 2022- Out of the Pandemic and into Moab
DAY 1:
On our way out of the front range and into the amazing red rocks of Moab we stopped at Klondike Bluffs to pedal out our legs and meet up as a group. The weather was perfect and the riding was just what we were looking for. Then off to meet up with our amazing ProBar rep and get product to keep us fueled and not cracking over the weekend. Love at first bite? S’Mores Meal on the Go Bar.
Because we adore Emily and it was her birthday weekend. We also decorated in anticipation of her late night arrival to the condo.
DAY 2:
Woke up early and excited to ride the Whole Enchilada. Shout out to Whole Enchilada Shuttle for the ride to the top. Somehow missed the turn for Jimmy Keen in our excited rush down Kokopelli and then found a service road back to our planned ride. Down the fast, flowy Jimmy Keen trail to warm up before hitting UPS for some epic views and drops. This ride did not disappoint and everyone pushed themselves. Teammates cheered and slowed down to session areas of the ride in full support of each other. Next was LPS to Porcupine Rim. Lots of leap frogging with other groups of riders. No mechanicals this year but still an amazing adventure. Rode back to town, then to the hot tub for well needed R and R.
We motivated each other, got dressed all fancy and went to dinner. Our theme this year you ask? Gold and sparkle!
Our favorite place to eat every year in Moab? Thai Bella Moab. So authentic and they are always so accommodating to us. We love them!

Back home for cake and pie to celebrate the birthday lady.
DAY 3:
Start off with the Navajo Rocks 17.3 mile look. Beautiful scenery. More climbing than one might expect, especially towards the end of the ride. Not much shade and thus can get hot. Teammates once again challenged themselves on this ride and did impressively well.
Three ladies were still raring to go and convinced (did not take much) a teammie to shuttle them up to the top of the new flowy, insanely fun trails of Eagle Eye and Falcon Flow.
The jeep track between them is just that, it is rocky, droppy and sketch at times but very much worth linking these two trails. The views and riding make this trail system highly recommended. Rumor has it that there will be a linking trail in the next couple of years as the plan is for this to be a fun shuttle run if you do not want to do LPS and Porcupine Rim in the future.
DAY 4:
Leaving Moab, we decided to ride the Brand Trails. What a great way to end the trip. Again, so beautiful and the weather was absolutely perfect. Everyone was so supportive and encouraging of each other.
When is our next ladies mountain bike trip?
Team Camp Recommendations:
- Bring food on all rides (think pizza, burrito, sandwich, something with substance as you will thank us for this recommendation later). Also, plenty of ProBar food (chews, Meal on the Go, Protein Bars, etc) and ample water (more than you think you need).
- Download TrailForks or MTB Project always! Getting lost can make a fun experience miserable. Yes, these trails are well marked but it is always nice to know where you are, how much elevation, time, miles, etc are left.
- Ensure your bike is in working order and that you have everything that might be needed on the ride with you (a tool, tube, CO2, lube, stans, tire levers, universal chain link, chain breaker, etc). Bring extra layers (a rain jacket and latex gloves weigh very little and are excellent if the weather turns very quickly).
- Use lots of sunscreen (Zealios is our favorite). Zealios also makes a post ride Race Relief gel, which we highly recommend for recovery.
- Bring fancy clothes
- Have fun!
