The Women’s 100 – Thank Gravel It’s Friday Edition (100km) Sunday, September 18th 2022 8:30 a.m.
Thank Gravel It’s Friday is celebrating women in cycling by hosting a fun, challenging, gravel edition of the Rapha Women’s 100. The W100 is all about celebrating women in cycling and going the distance, together. So on Sunday 18th September, Rapha is challenging us to ride 100km in one day, and with our sights set on a target of 100,000 people taking part, it’s going to be a global connection of shared experience.
We will tackle the challenging dirt climbs, single track, elevation, and beauty Boulder has to offer. This ride will push us, challenge us, connect us, and show that this community is full of incredible, badass women that crush these mountain gravel roads. It’s a way for us to connect with each other and to share our stories and our passion for adventure cycling.
Over 100k, we’ll experience about 7500ft of elevation gain, a mix of trafficked paved road, bike path, loose and technical single track, dirt roads, loose and steep descents, cow grates, and lots of climbing. This ride will require technical bike handling skills and is not be suitable for beginner riders. Pace will be moderate. This is not a race, it’s a day to connect and support each other. We will have a leader to guide the group and a couple ride guides throughout to assist. There will be a neutral roll out until we hit the dirt by the res. We may get stung out on the technical sections and climbs, however, there will be several checkpoints along the way to regroup. Several groups may be formed.
This ride will be fully self supported, so please make sure you have all the nutrition, water, tools, and gear you need to finish the route on your own. Make sure you download and know the route in case you get separated from any of the groups. There will be a stop at Gold Hill General store towards the end to fel up if needed.
A few regroup spots will include: After Joder, before turning left onto Olde Stage, top of Bow Mountain, Gold Hill General Store, bottom of Sawmill, top of Rowena.
Know the route! Even though will have a couple spots to regroup, we may split up significantly. Be prepared with the route loaded on your bike computer.
After the ride, let’s hang at Rapha, share our stories, and cheer on all the badass women on our accomplishment!
